New Quarterly Rates for Aetna Advantage Plans for Individuals, Families and the Self-Employed

As you may know, effective August 14, 2009, Aetna launched our new quoting and application system, Consumer Portal in Pennsylvania, Arizona, Indiana, Georgia, California, South Carolina, Michigan, Texas and Nebraska. Along with the new system, Aetna will now update new business rates, for the aforementioned states, quarterly instead of annually.

The new quarterly rates are now available in Consumer Portal. You may now start quoting in Pennsylvania, Arizona, Indiana, Georgia, California, South Carolina, Michigan, Texas and Nebraska for business with October 1, 2009, or later effective dates. Once you request a new quote, the latest rates will automatically be obtained by the system.

How will quarterly rates work?

Throughout the year, new business rates will be updated each quarter. For example, if you run a quote for your client on February 15 (1^st quarter) and the client decides to wait until June 12^th (2^nd quarter) to submit an application, the client will no longer be eligible for the 1^st quarter rates provided to them in February. The client will now receive the 2^nd quarter rates.

In conjunction with quarterly new business rating, we are also moving to anniversary renewal rate actions. Please note that rates for all new members will not increase until their policy anniversary date.
