Please see the important announcement below from "IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL BLUE CROSS OF NORTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA GENERAL AGENCIES: I regret to inform you that, effective for applications received on or after October 1, 2009, we will be discontinuing our $100 per application incentive payments for the sale of BlueCare Assure. Our current pool of Assure members is not sufficient to counteract the catastrophic utilization the product is incurring. We are experiencing significant losses and can no longer add to those losses through compensation to our network of General Agents and their Producers. Furthermore, we will be requesting a significant rate increase for Assure effective January 1, 2010. We recognize that there may not be other alternatives for the applicants who turn to Assure for coverage and we will not turn them away; however, we encourage you to consider both our BlueCare Cooperative and Assure products when counseling these clients. A benefit comparison is available below for you reference. While I am sure this announcement comes as no surprise, we recognize that it will create concern on the part of the Producers.
